I can't believe school starts on Monday. I have no words to describe how much I'm not looking forward to that. Every time I think about it, I tear up. I'm a big sap, I know, but I so enjoy having my kids with me! I missed Zack so much last year, and here we go again... we won't even discuss what next year will bring. :(
AJ is back in school too, after many, many years. He's taking online courses and I'm so happy that he's finally getting the chance to finish his degree. However, our schedule is going to be interesting for a while.
I am soooo not a fan of change. Never have been, and no matter how I try to look at change in a positive light, I still find myself bogged down by the whole concept. Okay, let me rephrase that... I don't like change unless it's my idea. How's that for honesty? :)
Anyway, school will be fine for all my students (ha ha) and I will learn to enjoy it as much as I did last year. I have other things I need to work on too, so I will have plenty to keep my mind busy. And if memory serves me, time flies during the school year too. Won't be long before this year is over too... and we'll start over again.
Back in the mid 90's, country musician, Tracy Lawrence, sang a song that puts the whole "time" thing in perspective. The words of the song might not apply specifically to my life, but the overall concept does.
Time Marches On
Sister cries out from her baby bed
brother runs in feathers on his head
Momma's in a room learning how to sew
daddy's drinking beer listneng to the radio
Hank Williams sings Kaw-Liga and Dear John
time marches on time marches on
Sister's using rouge and clear complexion soap
Brother's wearing beads and he smokes a lot of dope
Momma is depressed barly makes a sound
daddy's got a girlfriend in another town
Bob Dylan sings Like a Rolling Stone
time marches on time marches on
The South moves North the North moves South a star is born a star burns out
The only thing that stays the same is everything changes everything changes
Sister calls herself sexy grandma
brother's on a diet for high cholesterol
Momma's out of touch with reality
daddy's in the ground beneath the maple tree
As the angels sing an old Hank Williams song
time marches on time marches on
Time marches on time marches on
time marches on time marches on
So for the time being, I'll be content with the time I have with my kids and remember they are in God's hands every minute of every day. I'll look forward to whatever time He gives me with them and AJ... and just be thankful. :)
